We received a package with beautiful handwoven bracelets (pulseras) from Nicaragua–from an organization called The Pulsera Project (check out their website mentioned below!)We will be selling the bracelets for $5 from Nov. 28th-Dec. 9th before and after school to students, staff, or anyone who wants one!
By doing this, we are raising money for the artists and supporting fair trade, which will give them the economic opportunities that they need to be successful. The money raised will not only help these artists provide for themselves instead of having everything handed to them, but it will also fund educational, environmental, and other various aspects of their community.
In return, the students of RMS will be able to open up their eyes to a new culture and be empowered through education and connection. The goal is to bring cultures together through this service learning project, benefiting both sides, and creating international relationships while becoming global citizens.
